Restoring Your Breast Shape and Sensation
Breast reconstruction surgery restores the shape, appearance, symmetry, and size of the breasts following mastectomy, lumpectomy, or congenital breast differences. At AMG Plastic Surgery, breast reconstruction is guided by Dr. Amir Mahan Ghaznavi, MD, MBA, FACS, a dual board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with advanced fellowship training in microsurgery from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Ghaznavi’s expertise in breast reconstruction is supported by his contributions to peer-reviewed medical literature on surgical techniques and outcomes, including publications in respected clinical journals that explore restoring breast shape and sensation after cancer surgery. Drawing on the latest evidence-based practices and individualized care planning, our approach to breast reconstruction aims to achieve natural, long-lasting results while prioritizing safety, patient comfort, and quality of life. Many women find that thoughtful reconstruction enhances their confidence and emotional well-being, helping them move forward after treatment with a renewed sense of self.
Prepare for your recovery with Dr. Ghaznavi’s recommended essentials.
Types of Breast Reconstruction
There are two general types of breast reconstruction procedures, each suited to different patient needs based on body type and history of cancer treatments or mastectomy:
Implant Reconstruction
This procedure uses silicone or saline implants to recreate the breast shape.
Flap (Autologous) Reconstruction
This method uses tissue transplanted from another part of the patient’s body, such as the abdomen, back, or thighs, to form a new breast.
