FACE LIFT

Helping You Rejuvenate Your Face

Making a change in your life can be challenging to say the least, but it doesn’t have to be. One way of making changes is by getting a facelift. Of course, this isn’t for everyone, and it’s important to fully understand the facelift procedure, results and risks prior to moving forward with this surgery.

What Is A Facelift?

A facelift is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the face. It can be used to reduce the signs of aging or to correct certain features that may be considered undesirable. A facelift usually involves the removal of excess skin and fat and the tightening of the muscles and tissues in the face. It can be performed as a stand alone procedure or in combination with other cosmetic procedures, such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery.

The results can be quite dramatic and can last for many years. However, it is important to note that it is not a permanent solution, and it may eventually need to be repeated. This is because a facelift only treats the signs of aging on the surface, whereas over time, as skin ages and loses elasticity, deeper changes also occur.

About The Facelift Procedure

Depending on the degree of change you’d like to see, your facelift choices include a traditional facelift or a limited incision facelift.

During a traditional facelift, Dr. Ghaznavi will typically make an incision at the hairline near the temples and down to the lower scalp. The fat in the face is then sculpted or redistributed to other areas of the face or the head, the underlying tissue is repositioned and the muscles are lifted.  The facial skin is repositioned over the lifted tissue and muscle, and the excess skin is trimmed away.

A limited incision facelift is an alternative to a traditional facelift that uses shorter incisions at the temples. This type of facelift is good for patients with less skin wrinkles and relaxation.

Following the procedure, Dr. Ghaznavi will close the incisions with sutures. In some cases, sutures dissolve on their own—in other cases, they may need to be removed after a few days. Once fully healed, the scars from this procedure are not noticeable, and are typically hidden in the hairline and in the contours of the face.

Benefits Of A Facelift

When people hear “facelift,” the first thing people think is that it would drastically alter their appearance; however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Facelift surgeries can be a great way to look younger and give you a more vibrant appearance. For those who have deep frown lines, crow’s feet, or just want to remove some extra skin on their face, it might be time for them to consider a facelift.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles

  • Reduces sagging skin

  • Improve the shape of your jawline

  • Return your cheeks to their original round shape

  • Look younger

  • Change the area around their mouth, cheeks and eyes

  • Enhance features

  • Restore facial symmetry

  • Rejuvenate a tired and sad appearance

Recovery From A Facelift

Most patients are surprised by the immediate improvement they feel after surgery, often experiencing a boost in self-confidence. Most people experience some bruising and swelling, which can take a few weeks to heal. Some patients experience minor pain or discomfort for around ten days but can manage with over-the-counter pain medication.

The downtime for this procedure is relatively short: it typically takes about four weeks to completely recover from the surgery itself. You will be able to resume most day-to-day activities after a couple of weeks, and most people feel good enough to return to work within two weeks of surgery. Swelling will persist for an average of three to four months but should completely subside within six to twelve months.
